Holiday Trim

Well Geeks, long time no speak again. My apologies. Even though, I know only a small few of our members actually read my babbling, I still feel bad when I promise to write and it goes on the wayside.

Anyhow, here's the deal;

The Geeks will be losing weight shortly. As much as I love having a group size to rival most other groups, I find that we have a lot of 'dead' weight as well. There is a HUGE list of members who are no longer active in the community in T61 OR the group. When the Beat Geeks originally formed, it was meant to have a tight community feel. I think we have that, but only with a small percentage of our members. I'm not into numbers, I'm into quality-which is what I think our group should uphold. I would like to see members be ACTIVE within the group because otherwise, why bother? What is the point of being associated with a group if you don't participate in it?

I'm guessing that some people joined us because of the Quest requirement, others joined because we are a large group and still others joined because they honestly liked the camaraderie and overall welcoming atmosphere we instill in the group. I would like to have mostly members who joined for the latter. Am I asking too much? I understand that some people are too shy to maybe post on the wall & prefer to read along etc. That's cool too as I'm not trying to go on a rampage & kick everyone out who's never posted. But I AM going to start trimming off people who are no longer active on T61 and then I shall move on to members who have never even responded after our initial welcome. Then, it's up to you. I would love you to stay, to enjoy what we offer as a community etc. I want to keep up our regular banters & postings of new & interesting music. I want our group to be what it originally started out as, a good group of folk who are here to share their musical tastes & witty banter.

So I'm going to poll everyone to see if my plan is way out there or if you guys think I'm nutty. (sssssssssssshhh!!) lol Please be honest in the vote, only vote once and leave a comment as well if you have something you want to say about all this. If you are a quietly active member, send me a note that you want to stay so I know your intentions. If you would rather speak in private, the geek gmail account is always available. I am the only one that sees that.

Thanks in advance. I really love what our active members do. BIG PROPS to all who make an effort to welcome new members, join in the Radio Days & who generally keep the wall active with your posts. I know who you are & appreciate you, truly. I would like to keep the group high in those members as that is what being a Beat Geek is all about!

One Year Old

Happy Birthday Beat Geeks!

As with most things, we have big ideas but not enough Geek-power to implement it. So let's keep things simple shall we?

Design me a fun Geek Birthday logo for tomorrow, (October 17th our 'actual' birthday) and for the rest of next week as well. I will randomly start posting them as our logo for the next 7 days so refresh often!

Send your submissions to kalli2b's personal wall. Why? So it doesn't get lost in the convo of the group wall as I will be the one gathering them up and posting them.

Thank You Geek!

Hello everyone. I'm sorry for the delay but life has this uncanny ability to get in the way of my internet time. Funny that.

Did you know that Beat Geeks are a year old now? I figure it's a pretty momentous occasion but since we can't all party together in real life, what do we do as a group to celebrate? We sort of mentioned it a few months ago but because of various reasons nothing ever got fitted into place. So now I'm asking you if there is anything you'd like to see more of in the group. All comments and ideas will be duly noted and if we feel that it's in spirit of the group, they could possibly be implemented.

I'd like to shout out to everyone who has made fantastic efforts in bumping our member's radios over the last few months. THANK YOU for being so enthusiastic and generous with your fellow Geeks. It doesn't go unnoticed. I also wish to show my great appreciation for those of you who go out of your way to welcome all our new members. This was an idea the Geeks spearheaded from the beginning and something that is really important to me. I like people to feel there is a sense of community within our group and this is one way to make someone feel welcome and wanted. So keep up the great work everyone!

My wish for our group is to have a close-knit community of people who both enjoy great music and want to share it with others. I also want our members to feel comfortable asking for help or suggestions on how to play the game/heart aspect more efficiently as well.

Stay tuned for another poll... I'm trying to get that done before the end of this week.

Greetings Geeks!

I just wanted to say that all the work we were planning on putting into this blog for 'Tips n'Tricks' on how to use the site has been already done for us elsewhere... yay? Actually, this is great because those of us who are attempting to sail this ship, are having a difficult time coordinating between here and real life. As I'm sure you can all understand.

Anyhow, without further 'ado, if you would like more information on how to use thesixtyone.com as an artist OR listener go to; The611.

It seems this is like a wiki site where everyone can contribute to the overall info-ness, which looks to me, a neat idea.

Because The611 has taken the workload off of us in that department doesn't mean that I still don't have some plans for the Beat Geeks. There are still some ideas floating around, especially for the month of October, which is our one year birthday.

I would also like to add that if anyone else would like to make a suggestion for what to do for our birthday, please do so here or at the Beat Geeks gmail account. (contact.beatgeeks)
